Masajid (Mosques) will also be able to redirect your requests to other Masajid (Mosques) that might be better equipped to handle your particular needs.

- Located in Point Breeze bordering Frick Park in the neighborhood of Squirrel Hill.
- It has a separate Muslim section.
- Requires the body to be enclosed in the casket.
- Requires authorization from Muslim Cemetery Association (MCA).

Chartiers Cemetery:
- Located a few miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
- It has a separate Muslim section.
- The burial doesn't require a casket and therefore is similar to the Islamic traditional burial.

STEPS TO TAKE
- Contact funeral home first in case of death
- Funeral home will typically claim the body from the hospital
- The ones listed above are equipped to handle Muslim rituals of Ghusl (ablution) and other associated requirements
- Let the funeral home know that it is a Muslim burial.
- The ones listed above know the Masajid (Mosques) in the area and will attempt to contact them on their own. You should also reach out to the Masjid where you want the Janazah (Funeral Prayer) yourself.

- The Homewood Cemetery handles the payment to MCA. Cash/Checks/Money Order are accepted forms of payments
- The cost for the burial plot is $1100 payable to MCA
- Additional Cemetery costs are as follows: Vault ($995), setup ($150), document fee ($85). Total: $2,625
- Caskets can be purchased from the funeral home; there is no requirement from the cemetery for any specific casket
- Monuments/Headstones are purchased separately and can be arranged with the cemetery at any time before or after the burial
- They have the ability to perform burials within 24 hours
- Burials on Sundays are possible but not always guaranteed

- Obtain Kafan (Shroud). Typically the Kafan (either male or female) is available for purchase for $50.
- Arrange for someone to provide Ghusl (ablution) to the deceased and prepare them for burial
- Schedule a Janazah (Funeral prayer) for the deceased. Mosques have the capability to quickly reach out to the Muslim community in the area.
