MCCGP Seeking Full-time Imam and Religious Director
Muslim Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh (MCCGP) is seeking a full-time Imam who will inspire the community, share love for Islam, and build bridges with other faith communities in the region.
Responsibilities
The Imam will be responsible for (in descending order of priority):
Engaging the Youth
Leading the Community
Building Bridges
Provide Counseling & Guidance
Demonstrating Thought Leadership
The Imam will be expected to maintain a 40 hours per week work schedule with a minimum of 10-15 office hours per week. He will report to the President of the Executive Council of MCCGP with whom he will meet quarterly to provide status report and review progress.

Responsibilities
The Imam will be responsible for (in descending order of priority):
Engaging the Youth
- Establishing youth programs and activities that help attract and engage our youth.
- Inspire and equip our youth to grow up as a force for greater good – personally, professionally and spiritually.
Leading the Community
- Serving as the spiritual, religious and inspirational leader of our diverse MCCGP community.
- Preparing, delivering, and/or arranging Juma and Eid Khutbahs and other lectures on Islamic matters and issues presented by MCCGP.
Building Bridges
- Becoming the chief spokesperson and representative for MCCGP and Islam at religious events such as lectures, panels, workshops and conferences.
- Build bridges with regional interfaith leaders, other Masajid and people of other faiths to connect with MCCGP and Islam.
Provide Counseling & Guidance
- Counseling the community members in the light of Quranic and Prophetic teachings.
- Advising the Executive Council to ensure that the policies and practices of MCCGP are in accordance with the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad [PBUH].
- Advising the MCCGP Education Committee and the Weekend School Principal and teachers to ensure that the curriculum is in accordance with the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad [PBUH].
Demonstrating Thought Leadership
- Developing and presenting on contemporary Islamic topics at local, regional and international workshops and conferences.

Requirements
- A graduate of Seminary, Alim, or Mufti Program or a minimum of two years of related-training and experience.
- Strong command of spoken and written English.
- Understanding and speaking of at least some Arabic is desired.
- Demonstrable comfort with men, women and children; with students, professionals, homemakers and retirees; with singles, married couples, divorcees, single parents and parents; and with Muslims raised in various countries and in the US.
